About Tony Clough

I like to explore processes and build systems which, in a way, make art on their own with little to no input once the process has begun. By separating myself as the artist from the minor decision making parts of the process, my pieces can come to life on their own without too much influence along the way. Trusting the process and observing the outcome can inform possible tweaks which can be made to the system when beginning a new piece of art.

Using serigraphy as a main medium, I’ve taken the repetitive properties of the process a bit further by using a single repeating screen stencil for each piece. By moving the substrates linearly or rotationally while printing a repeating image, I create original and individually unique pieces that tell the story of where they started and how they have come to completion.
